A young male cat miraculously survived after being wrapped in plastic and dust sheets, sealed with tape inside a drawstring bag, and heartlessly abandoned near a country lane in Angmering, West Sussex. This disturbing case of animal cruelty has prompted Wadars Animal Rescue Charity to launch an urgent appeal to identify the perpetrator and find information about the cat’s background.
Quick-Thinking Passerby Saves Cat’s Life

What initially seemed like another instance of roadside littering turned into a life-saving rescue mission. On Wednesday, a vigilant member of the public noticed a suspicious-looking package on Roundstone Lane in Angmering.
“She thought it was just a bag of rubbish,” explained Tracy Cadman, director of Wadars Animal Rescue Charity. “But something made her check inside.”
After cutting a small hole in the tightly wrapped bundle, the woman was shocked to discover fur. She immediately contacted Wadars for help.
“Without her quick thinking, I think we would be looking at a dead cat,” Cadman stated. “We’re incredibly grateful she took the time to investigate rather than just walking past.”
“One of the Most Sickening Acts” Charity Has Witnessed
The rescue team was appalled by what they found. The cat had been systematically wrapped in plastic and dust sheets before being placed inside a cream drawstring bag. The bag was then thoroughly sealed with green plastic tape.
“It is clearly a deliberate act of cruelty with the intention of killing the cat,” said Cadman. “This is one of the most sickening and cowardly incidents I have seen in my time with the charity.”
The methodical nature of the packaging suggests this was no impulsive act but rather a calculated attempt to ensure the cat could not escape and would not be found in time.
Cat Showing Remarkable Resilience After Ordeal

Despite the traumatic experience, the young male cat is displaying extraordinary resilience. Rescue workers report that he appears to be in “fairly good shape” considering what he endured.
“It’s quite remarkable really,” Cadman noted. “He’s understandably frightened, but physically, he’s doing much better than we initially feared.”
The cat has a distinctive mark on his right ear, which the charity hopes might help identify him. Staff are now providing him with medical attention, food, and a safe, comfortable environment while he recovers from his ordeal.
Public Asked to Help Identify Cat and Perpetrator
Wadars Animal Rescue Charity is now appealing to the public for any information that might help identify either the cat or the person responsible for this act of cruelty.
“Someone must know something,” urged Cadman. “Perhaps they recognize the cat with its distinctive ear marking, or maybe they’ve noticed suspicious behavior from someone they know who recently had a cat that’s now ‘gone missing.'”
The charity emphasizes that information can be provided confidentially, and their primary concern is ensuring both justice for the cat and preventing the person responsible from harming other animals.
Anyone who recognizes the cat or has relevant information is encouraged to contact Wadars Animal Rescue Charity directly. Moreover , as the investigation continues, the rescued feline remains under careful observation, gradually adjusting to a safe environment where he can begin to trust humans again after such a harrowing betrayal.
