When they took him to the vet for his vaccinations, they learned he had already been neutered and chipped, but that his previous owner’s information had been deleted.

An Oklahoma University study found that animal shelter staff housing lost pets implanted with a microchip were able to find the owners in almost three out of four cases.

For stray cats, the difference in return rates between microchipped and non-microchipped animals is especially dramatic.
